Description and Technical Specifications
Stag's Quasar Plus PC based universal programmer is designed for engineering or production use. Interchangeable modules provide socketing for various device packages including DIP, PLCC, TSOP, PSOP, QFP, PGA and BGA. Devices supported include PROMs, EPROMs, FLASH, EEPROMs, PLDs, CPLDs & Microcontrollers. Device libraries and algorithms are stored in software modules on the PC allow easy user upgrades for new or changed algorithms.
Programmer Options
- Two programmer options are available tailored to your requirements.
- The Quasar Plus model 1044 has a 44pin DIP socket as standard and using the UPA-44 universal PLCC module can support 44 pin PLCC devices. 44 pindrivers are available for programming and testing devices. Larger devices may be supported depending on the programming module.
- The Quasar Plus model 1084 has a 44pin DIP socket as standard and using the UPA-84 universal PLCC module can support 84 pin PLCC devices. 84 pindrivers are available for programming and testing devices. Larger devices may be supported depending on the programming module.
Memory, Micros and Logic
- As expected from a Stag Programmer the Quasar Plus is feature rich and every area of programmable device behaviour is covered.

For memory devices, 8 and 16-bit modes are available as well as a full featured data editor.
All types of device security are implemented: security fuses; encryption; software data protection; and the software also provides an option for automatic device serial numbers and checksums for memory type devices.
- A full programming sequence can be defined to fit the operator's requirements: Blank Check, Programming, Verification and the blowing of security fuses.
- The Quasar Plus accepts standard JEDEC files from logic compilers, which provide all the necessary fuse data and test vectors for programming and testing PLDs.
